The Provost, Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka Dr. Sijibomi Olusanya recently received Leadership Award from Pan-African Students Congress. The Pan African students congress is the umbrella body that covers all students within the 55 African Union (AU) recognized African Countries with core objectives of encouraging corporate harmonious coexistence among member states students for the purpose of students exchange program, objective analysis of issues that affect them, encouragement of stakeholders and public office holders for much needed peace.

In his address, the president of Pan-African Students Congress, Comrade Emmanuel Kendus from University of Ghana, Legon thanked the Provost and the Management Team for the warm reception accorded them. He stated that Pan-African students congress has taken her time to scrutinize leaders, public office holders business moguls and individual who have committed their lives, time and money to serve the common good in accordance to PAN-AFRICANISM IDEOLOGY.

At this point that the youths need to have exemplary Leaders as role models, we have carefully selected you as our role model.

The President described Dr. Sijibomi Olusanya as a thorough breed, outstanding public servant of impeciable credentials, a detribalized Nigerian. Lover of Students/Youths and charismatic personality whose credible credentials of efficient service delivery, high administrative acumen and community service made him a Nigerian worthy of emulation so much that at PAN African Students Congress Conference held at the Univeristy of Livingstonia Malawi, the immense contribution of this man of outstanding understanding to peace, Leadership, Youth empowerment, cohesion was brought to the front burner by our Nigerian representative.

Also, what seems to be most phenomenal about Dr. S.O. Olusanya is his unequal regards, reception, care and compassion for everyone who comes his way at all times either seeking assitance or mentorship or on official grounds – always eager to assist, lend a listening ear and support irrespective of whom you are, where you are from or the faith you profess or your social status.

In his contribution, Director of Award and Privileges comrade Elias Shance Walakaye, a student of University of Sheik Anatar Diop, Dakar Senegal said he was afraid to come to Nigeria on the invitation by his Nigerian Co-ordinator Comrade Danielson Brown from Nasarawa State University Keffi because of Boko Haram insurgence, but it was a different story when he got to Lagos. He thanked the Provost for receiving them well inspite of short notice given to him and praised him for effective service delivery, saying that if you do your duty history will do you good.

In his response, the recipient of the Award, Dr. Sijibomi Olusanya thanked the Pan-African Students Congress for considering him for the award. He said he was being encouraged by the students when he went for his National Service.

Also, having schooled abroad and saw how things are done and that the white students were not better than the blacks, at the same time, the Provost felt he was doing what he supposed to do not realizing that people are watching all he was doing.

The Provost concluded that the award given to him will encourage him to do more to better the lives of the people.
