ACADEMIC BOARD DECISION ON OCTOBER 25TH, 2016 STUDENT PROTEST

The Academic Board at its emergency meeting of Tuesday 8th November 2016 considered the report of the College Management on the students’ crisis and has directed as follows:

  1.   That the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka Students Union

Constitution should be suspended until further notice.

 

b.    That the Students Union Executive and the Students Legislative Council should be dissolved forthwith

 

c.      That nominated Departmental representatives should work with the College    Management through the Students’ Affairs Office in the interim.

 

d.      That the FCET Akoka Constitution should be reviewed to include conflict resolution mechanisms such as establishment of Judicial Arm and Financial Guidelines, which shall be the prelude to subsequent  elections into students union offices.

 

e.      That the College shall re-open for full academic activities on Monday, 14th November 2016 with NCE II and III commencing on-line registration for the 2016/2017 1st Semester.  All returning students must sign an Undertaking to be of good behavior which must be properly endorsed by their parents/guardians.

.

f.      Obstruction/Locking of College Gates or invasion of any facility during any protest is hereby prohibited.  Students that violate this regulation shall be expelled forthwith from the College.

 

Students are reminded that the award of the College Certificate is made to persons who are found to be worthy in “learning and character”.

RESUMPTION OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES

 

The College Academic Board at its emergency meeting held on Tuesday, 8th November, 2016 has directed that full academic activities should resume on Monday, 14th November, 2016. In preparation for the resumption, students are expected to adhere strictly to the following guidelines:

  • Visit the College website www.fcet-akoka.edu.ng  and download the Undertaking and Indemnity Form.
  • Students are to complete the Undertaking Form and get it notarized

 

  • Parents and Guardians are to complete the Parents Indemnity Form

 

 

  • Completed Undertaking Form which must be notarized and Parent’s Indemnity Form should be submitted at the various Departments and a clearance obtained.  The clearance would be required to gain-access into Examination halls at the appropriate time.

 

  • Students seeking for accommodation in halls of residence are to obtain a clearance from the departmental Officer which must be presented at the Halls of residence to gain access into their rooms.

 

 

  • Students are expected to visit the College website from Friday, 11th November 2016 and complete the clearance process on or before Monday 14th November, 2016.

 

  • No student will be readmitted without completing the above process.
